My name is Marc Bowen. I live in Iowa City, IA. Photography has been a passive avocation of mine for a number of years now, but recently I have decided to pursue it in a more active manner & it has become quite a passion. Although at the moment, I don't have plans on being a "professional", I wouldn't at all mind if I could make a living with photography, which I love.

My main intrest is with artistic photograpic images, both using standard photography methods & digital photography. I like to shoot pictures of architecture, landscape, wildlife, human models & I also enjoy setting up & shooting still-life. Black & white photography is my favorite medium, in part because I can develop & process the film & prints myself.

I currently am using an older Minolta XG1 that I purchased after my Minolta X-370N died on me. I miss the 370 & plan on replacing it with another, or with an X-700 that I have my eye on at my local camera store. I also use an old Argus C1 "brick" that I picked up at a Goodwill store for $5.00. It's a pretty fun little camera. I like it because the shutter can be armed & tripped over & over again without advancing the frame, allowing me to make multiple exposures. It's also a very simple camera, as far as maintenance & repair is concerned. In the future, I plan on building a large-format view camera & have this idea about making a pinhole camera that uses Polaroid 600 film. Both should be fun.
